Tainted Blood
by Thomas C. McCollum, III

Ailing millionaire medical entrepreneur Scott Reid believes that his symptoms are caused by cytomegalovirus-a nonlethal cousin of HIV. But when lab tests indicate otherwise, he learns that he may have been deliberately injected with HIV-2 tainted blood.

Who would want him dead? He begins a desperate marathon-to convince others of what he suspects-that he has been murdered.

As the story moves from the steamy jungles of Africa to the money smog of the L.A. lifestyle, to Washington, D.C., the Netherlands Antilles, and beyond, Reid discovers HIV has become more than a virus-it's big business-and for some, an extremely profitable one.

Like the relentless, icy drip of fluid into the IV line, Tainted Blood pulls the reader into a terminally-thrilling story of seductive wealth, medical mayhem, political conspiracy and ultimate madness-and a chilling new twist on AIDS.

Quotes about the Book

"A great read." -F. Lee Bailey

"Tainted Blood gets your blood up." -Rita Mae Brown

"…an interesting medical thriller…McCollum makes the medical details microscopically authenic." -Publishers Weekly

"…as suspenseful as it is troubling. Not a thriller to be taken lightly, or put down easily." -Peter Viertel, author White Hunter, Black Heart

In spite of the seemingly far-fetched theory on how AIDS got started, this book hits more than one button on the reader. While the story line could have been developed some more, the medical/legal content is staggering, particularly so that much of the stuff written as "fiction" is in fact verifiable! I suppose the author must have worried about being targeted by "someone" and chose the thriller route rather than a documentary. I've taken Mr McCollum up on what he says through one of his characters that all these facts can be looked up - and I was stunned. Everybody should read this one.
